Witness the Grandeur of Nature on a Hawaiian Islands Cruise
By Joseph Ducat

Aloha, friends! Welcome to a veritable paradise on Earth, a place where you can revel in the splendors of nature, and enjoy the pleasures of the tropical ocean and the lovely beaches it surrounds. This, my friends, is Hawaii and its charms await any weary traveler seeking leisure, recreation, and wonder. And you can experience it in true style thanks to Royal Caribbean Cruises to Hawaii.

What is there to do in Hawaii? Of course many people come just to have a good time on the islands’ stunning beaches, but Hawaii has much more to offer in terms of sightseeing and adventure. Among the magnificent spectacles you will find on the islands are the lush rain forests of the Big Island, the breathtaking waterfalls of Maui, and the grandiose volcanoes of Oahu. For the adventurous type, there will be opportunities to snorkel with dolphins, ride across the coastline on horseback, or try a little surfing. If all you want to do is watch, the acrobatic Hawaiian surfers will put on a display of skill and bravura for you.

Hawaii is unique in being the only US state that exists outside the continental mainland and is completely surrounded by ocean. It is composed of numerous islands. One of these is Oahu, which is nicknamed “The Gathering Place” because although it is only the third largest of the islands, it has the most people living in it. It is on Oahu where you will find Diamond Head Crater in Waikiki, a world famous volcanic crater. It was so named because when British sailors discovered the crater in the 1800s, they mistook the sparkling of crystals in the lava rocks to indicate the presence of diamonds. There is a moderately easy hike to the top of the Diamond Head Crater that will reward you with a spectacular view of the western side of Oahu.

Maui is the second largest of the islands and home to Haleakala, the largest dormant volcano in the world. At Haleakala National Park, you can take a fairly challenging hike to witness a magnificent sunrise from the volcanic summit.

Kauai is the fourth largest of the islands. Known by the name “The Garden Isle,” Kauai is one of the wettest spots on Earth, registering an annual average rainfall of 460 inches a year. Kauai is an excellent place to explore the tropical rainforest and is also a good site for snorkeling.

Hawaii is the name of the largest island. It is often referred to as the Big Island to avoid confusing it with the state as a whole. The Big Island is home to the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, where you can discover the world’s most massive volcano, Mauna Loa, and one of the most active, Kilauea. Here you will find that you can approach the slow moving lava flows without danger, allowing you to witness the awesome geologic power of the volcanoes up close.
